13 die in fire at Mirpur market

At least 13people died in deadly fire that broke out in a market at Mirpur-1 of the city on Saturday afternoon.
Fire Service Central Control Room said the fire originated on the 1st floor of the three-storey ‘Nasim Plaza’ near Sony Cinema Hall around 5:25pm. The fire soon engulfed a plastic factory house in the building and spread to an abandoned garment factory nearby.
On information, 10 fire fighting units rushed in to douse the blaze.
Fire officials said the death toll would likely to rise and 20 more fire-fighting units rushed the spot to douse the flames.
Thirteen bodies were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at and several with severe burn injuries were admitted to the hospital.
Fire service personnel were fighting to put out the blaze and searching for more bodies in the debris at 10:00pm.
