A newborn baby, declared dead by the doctors at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, was found alive after three hours.
As the saddened parents were preparing his burial, neighbours visiting the Azimpur graveyard, found that the infant was moving in the lap of his father.
The doctors were astonished as the father, Md Jahangir Alam, returned with his baby to DMCH around 10:00am. The physicians begged apology.
However, the authorities formed a four-member committee to probe into the incident, DMCH deputy director, Mushfiqur Rahman said.
A woman, Sultana Begum, gave birth to a premature—1,200gm only—baby on Friday night. The attending doctors feared that the infant could hardly survive as it was in womb for only 6 months.
The duty doctors declared the newborn dead at around 7:00am.
Earlier on December 4, a similar incident happened at the same hospital while a woman was declared dead and was discovered alive a few hours later.
