28 more Indian fishermen held in bay

The Bangladesh Navy on Friday evening handed 28 Indian fishermen to the Mongla police station in Bagerhat after nabbing them from the Bangladesh territory of Bay of Bengal while they had been fishing there illegally.
The Indian fishermen were arrested by the Bangladesh Navy Thursday afternoon from Fairway area of the bay, some 150 nautical miles away from Mongla port, where they had been fishing illegally by two big fishing boats, Mongla police officer-in-charge Md Belayet Hossain told New Age.
He said a case was lodged with his police station against them for entering Bangladesh waters illegally.
The fishermen would be sent to a Bagerhat court on Saturday, he said.
With the 28 fishermen, the Bangladesh Navy has arrested a total of 92 Indian fishermen for illegally entering into Bangladesh waters since October 15.
