Bangladesh Nationalist Party joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday said the government would not be allowed to stay in power any longer as it was illegally sworn in by scraping the caretaker government provision from the constitution.
Addressing a press conference at the party central office in the afternoon, he alleged that the government adopted a subservient diplomatic policy and made secret treaties with foreign countries to remain in power.
The government was illegally sworn in power by scrapping the caretaker government provision although it once committed violence for establishing caretaker government, Rizvi said.
‘The government must quit power restoring the caretaker provision to the constitution,’ he added.
Rizvi said prime minister Sheikh Hasina was disgracefully taking trips to different countries although the government was being questioned of its legitimacy in the international arena.
BNP leaders Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib-un Nabi Khan Sohel, Abdus Slam, among others, were present at the programme.
