Cabinet committee directs for maintaining law and order

The cabinet committee on law and order on Monday directed all concerned for all out measures to check deterioration of law and order, particularly at the labour-intensive readymade garment sectors, over non-payment of wages.
‘We’ve asked the law enforcing agencies to beef up security measures ahead of Eid festival to maintain order,’ head of the cabinet body Amir Hossain Amu, also the industries minister, told a briefing after the meeting at the secretariat.
He said that RMG factory owners have been asked to ensure payment of wages and festival allowance in time before Eid so that it does not create any unrest in the export oriented apparel sectors.
Earlier, government asked apparel factory owners to pay the workers’ partial wages of current month and festival allowance by July 26 ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The cabinet committee asked the law enforcing agencies to expedite the investigation of much-talked about murder cases in Feni and Narayanganj.
