The president of Stamford University Bangladesh board of trustees, MA Hannan Firoz, also a former vice-chancellor of the private university, was arrested and remanded in custody for six days on Wednesday for attacking former Chhatra League president Enamul Haque Shameem.
Detective branch police arrested Firoz from his house in Dhanmondi Wednesday and produced him before a metropolitan magistrate’s court.
Shameem, also a trustee board member of Stamford University, was shot at by miscreants on his way to Dhanmondi campus of the university on June 19.
Metropolitan magistrate Hasibul Haque granted six-days’ remand in response to police’s plea for a 10-day remand rejecting bail petition.
Senior jurist Rafique-ul Haq, Sanaullah Miah and Mosharraf Hossain Kajol moved for the accused.
