BNP leaders meet speaker for release MK Anwar, Bulu

A delegation of BNP lawmakers, headed by the opposition chief whip, Zainul Abdin Farroque, on Thursday met the speaker, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, and sought her intervention so that two BNP lawmakers, now in jail, could be released before the budget session of the parliament beginning on June 3.
The speaker assured the BNP delegation that she would discuss the matter with the authorities concerned.
BNP lawmaker MK Anwar is in jail in a case for making ‘derogatory remarks’ against Swechhasebak League leader Debashish Biswas and Barkatullah Bulu is in jail for his alleged involvement in the burning of vehicles and assaulting the police at Naya Paltan in the capital Dhaka on March 11.
