Govt hatching fresh plots over constitution: Moudud

Staff Correspondent

Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Moudud Ahmed on Friday alleged that the government was hatching new conspiracies over the constitution to hang on to power.
Addressing a programme, he said it was not possible to hold general elections keeping the present parliament functioning.
So the government was hatching ‘new conspiracies’ over the constitution.
Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Samabaya Dal organised the programme at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.
Moudud, a member of the BNP standing committee, said whatever tactics the government tried to adopt would not work.
He said only an amendment to the constitution to restore the election-time non-party government would bring benefit. He said BNP would support such a move.
Moudud said BNP would resist any government move to amend the constitution to stay in power and the issue would be settled in the street if not possible in parliament.
Moudud said BNP would scrap the 15th amendment to the constitution if it came to power.
