Rail communication between Dhaka, Khulna and most of the northern region was suspended for several hours on Friday following a train accident in Natore.
Three compartments of Dinajpur-Dhaka bound Drutojan Express broke at Yasinpur near Natore, said Bangladesh Railway’s chief train controller (Paksey).
The passengers suffered at different points for the accidents. The train controller said that some parts of the train had broken as those were old.
The train stopped at about 1:30pm while Dhaka-Syedpur bound Rupsha and Rangpur Express were stuck at various stations.
‘The train stopped at Yasinpur where our station had been closed. So we could not take action instantly,’ he said.
The officer told New Age at about 6:00pm that Drutojan Express had left Yasinpur at about 5:00pm while a rescue train would remove the compartments within few hours.
‘Rail communication between Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna became normal but trains from Rangpur and Parbatipur were still in waiting,’ he added.
