60 more foreign friends to be honoured Oct 1

Sixty more foreign friends will be honoured on October 1 for their contribution to the birth of the country in 1971, an official said.
‘President M Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina will confer ‘Bangladesh Liberation War Honour’ and ‘Friends of Liberation War Honour’ awards formally at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 3:00pm on October 1,’ he said. The official said all the guests are expected to arrive in Dhaka on September 30.
The government has so far honoured 278 foreign friends and dignitaries since the first honour was conferred posthumously to former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi on July 25, 2011.
