ICT asks IGP to produce Patuakhali war crimes suspect July 3

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 Monday asked the inspector general of police (prison) to produce a Patuakhali war crimes suspect, Forkan Mallik, before it on July 3 in a war crimes case.
The suspect had allegedly committed the crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The tribunal passed the order following a prosecution plea that intended to show Forkan arrested in the war crimes case.
Prosecutor Mokhlesur Rahman placed the petition to the tribunal and submitted that Forkan was arrested on June 25 in a case lodged for killing people in 1971 under Mirzaganj thana in Patuakhali.
He submitted that the accused should be shown arrested in the war crimes case for the interest of proper investigation.
The detective branch of police arrested Forkan from Rupatali Bus Stand area in Barisal following a warrant.
Abdul Hamid of Shoulabunia under Mirzaganj in Patuakhali filed the case on July 21, 2009 against Forkan, 62, an alleged Razakar commander of Mirzaganj area.
After police investigation, the case was sent to Patuakhali District and Sessions Judge’s Court that issued an arrest warrant for Forkan in 2013.
After his arrest on June 25, the accused was produced before the Patuakhali court that sent him to jail.
