Biman staff lay siege to acting MD’s office

A group of employees and union leaders of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines confined Biman’s acting managing director to his office at Balaka on Monday to press home their 14-point demands.
The demands include continuing uniform allowance for Biman employees, providing dearness allowance and restoring medical allowance, UNB reported.
The Biman employees and Collective Bargaining Agent leaders began the siege with their six-point demands and later, Biman Flight Catering Centre (BFCC) joined the programme with their eight-point demands.
Several hundred workers and employees of the national airlines laid siege at the Biman headquarters Balaka bhaban in the city from 11:15am. They took position in front of the office and chanted various slogans to meet their demands.The siege ended at 2:00pm.
The CBA leaders threatened of announcing a tougher programme if the authorities did not fulfill their demands by today (Monday).
