PM to visit Sylhet today

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is due to formally inaugurate the Sylhet Divisional Stadium today (Friday).
Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to arrive at the Sylhet Airport at noon and inaugurate the stadium in Lakkatura Tea Garden area in the city at 3pm after visiting the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal and Hazrat Shah Paran.
The Sylhet Divisional Stadium, which has been recognised as a cricket venue by the international cricket council, was established in 2007.
Later in 2012, the Bangladesh Cricket Council has taken initiative to upgrade it as an international cricket venue keeping ahead the T20 Cricket World Cup scheduled to begin on March 16 in the country.
The renovation works of the stadium was completed recently at a cost of Tk 84 crore, sources in the BCB said.
The most attractive structure of the Sylhet Divisional Stadium is its green gallery, which have been decorated in the shape of the national flag with red and green plants.
Being contacted, Bangladesh Cricket Board member and Sylhet Divisional Sports Association general secretary Shafiul Alam Nadel said the stadium has already been recognised by all quarters as the best ever stadium in the country due to its scenic views and facilities.
