KILLING OF CONSTABLE: Charge framed against 384 BNP-Jamaat men

A charge was framed against 384 activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jamaat-e-Islami for their alleged involvement in killing of police constable Omar Farooque of Harinakundu police station in 2013.
The court of Jhenaidah district and session’s Judges, Mohammad Nanabur Rahman, framed the charges on Wednesday afternoon.
The court set November 27 to record testimonies of the witnesses in the case, the court sources said.
Thousands of the activists and supporters of BNP and Jamaat took to the street on March 3 in 2013, protesting against the death sentence against Jamaat Nayebe Amir, Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, who had committed war crimes in 1971.
As the police intercepted their protest, the activists swooped on police and killed a constable, Omar Farooque, by beating and hacking.
A sub inspector of the police in Harinakundu Aminul Islam filed a murder case against 220 named persons, including, Jamaat leader and erstwhile upazila parishad chairman Motahar Hossain and six thousand of unnamed persons with Harinakundu police.
