Students from 46 public and private universities have participated in a photography exhibition and competition organised by Jahangirnagar University Photography Society at National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The exhibition features 118 photographs on diverse themes by the same number of students. Four photographs have been awarded in two different categories: Jury Award and Best Award.
Daffodil International University student Shahaz Uddin has won the jury award named ‘Selim Al Deen Award’ for his photograph titled ‘Symmetry’ featuring the image of a bathing boy.
Best Awards have been shared by Dhaka International University student Omor Faruk , East West University student Shams Ahmed Ayat and National University student Tapan Karmakar.
Omor Faruk won the award for his photograph titled ‘Curiosity’ which depicts a close-up portrait of a boy having widened eyes.
Shams Ahmed Ayat won the award for his photograph titled ‘Life Mirror’ that shows a man walking with his horse, while Tapan Karmakar won the award for In Their World featuring two kids playing with slingshot in a small stretch of green surrounded by buildings.
The show also displays some interesting photographs. For instance, Jahangirnagar University student Kushal Majumder’s entry, Tranquility, captures a calm moment of a lake surrounded by hills.
Bangladesh University of Business and Technology student Midhath Chowdhury depicts a spectacular image of a starry night in Night Space.
Shanto Mariam University student Shahriar Jisan’s photograph, Love and War, features a beautiful moment of an infant sitting beside its working mother.
The show, inaugurated on September 27, will remain open till 7pm today.
