Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam has urged the Russian government to recruit skilled workers from Bangladesh.
The minister made the request through Russian ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov who made a courtesy call on him at his office in Probashi Kalyan Bhaban on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the minister and the Russion envoy discussed how to recruit Bangladeshi workers for work in the different sectors in Russia.
They also discussed the issue relating to signing bilateral agreement on recruitment of manpower between the two countries.
Nurul Islam said that Bangladesh was prepared to groom skilled workers by providing them proper training from its 70 technical training centres and send them to work in the developed countries across the world.
Through the envoy, the minister requested the Russian government to recruit skilled workers from Bangladesh.
Russian ambassador Alexander Ignatov said that he would request his government to work on preparing bilateral agreements to recruit skilled workers and ensure their rights in his country.
Meanwhile, a Russian manufacturing company has sent a demand letter saying it would recruit 225 workers from Bangladesh.
EWOE secretary Begum Shamsun Nahar, among others, was present at the meeting.
