Five female militant suspects held in Ctg

The police arrested five women at a residence of Boalkhali upazila in Chittagong on Tuesday afternoon suspecting that they were involved in militancy.
The identities of the arrested could not be ascertained immediately.
Boalkhali police officer-in-charge Salahuddin Chowdhury said that acting on a tip-off, they conducted a drive at a house near Petan Shah Mazar area at about 4:00pm and held the five women, aged around 20.
They were allegedly holding a secret meeting for carrying out militant activities, the OC said.
Chittagong District Police additional superintendent Rezaul Masud said that several books and leaflets propagating extremist views were seized from the arrested.
In primary interrogation they confessed to the police that they were involved with the Islami Chhatri Songstha, the Jamaat-e-Islami-backed female student organisation.
