126 cricketers up for grab in BPL

A total of 126 local players will be up for grab for the seven franchises in the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League players’ draft scheduled on September 30, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday.
According to BPL governing council, seven local icon players are allowed to choose any of the BPL franchises independently.
The seven players are – Sakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmuduallah, Mashrafee bin Murtaza, Sabbir Rahman and Soumya Sarkar.
Rest of the players was placed in A, B, C and D categories.
Two local players can be retained by six franchises – Dhaka Dynamites, Barisal Bulls, Chittagong Vikings, Comilla Victorians and Rangpur Riders – who participated in the previous edition.
Sakib set to get highest Tk 55 lakh among the icons while Mashrafee, Mushfiq, Tamim, Mhmudullah will get Tk 50 lakh each. Sabbir and Soumya were given a price tag of Tk 40 lakh each.
The A category players will get Tk 25 lakh while the B category players will receive Tk 18 lakh. The players of C and D categories will get Taka eight and five lakh respectively.
Regarding the foreign players BPL governing body had requested the franchises to provide them with name of the foreign player (who are already been purchased) by September 26.
BPL governing council chairman Afzalur Rahman Sinha told New Age that they received a good response from foreign cricketers.
The BCB in a media release late on Tuesday said a total of 168 overseas players, including 42 Pakistanis and 36 England players have registered their names.
Teams have already roped in 31 foreign players outside players’ draft, said the BCB.
The maximum price
for a foreign player is $70,000.
