B’desh thrash Oman in U-18 hockey

Bangladesh continued their winning spree in the 4th Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey when they handed Oman a huge 10-0 in their last pool ‘A’ match at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
The home side advanced to the classification phase as pool ‘A’ champions and will face Chinese Taipei on Thursday to qualify for the first place deciding match.
Two arch-rivals India and Pakistan will face each other in the other classification match on the same day.
The winners of both classification games will play in first place deciding match, scheduled on September 30.
Bangladesh’s penalty corner specialist Ashraful Islam and Mohammad Mohsin scored three goals each while Mahbub Hossain netted two and Arshad Hossain and Fazle Hossain Rabby added one apiece.
Meanwhile in the day’s other matches, Chinese Taipei held China with a 2-2 draw to become the runners-up of pool ‘B’ and group champions Pakistan thrashed Hong Kong 14-0.
