Female students of the Jahangirnagar University staged a sit-in programme on the campus on Monday, demanding resignation of hall provost, hall superintend and a warden of Pritilata hall.
Around 100 students of Pritalata hall staged the demonstration in front of vice-chancellor office and handed over a memorandum to the university vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam, demanding resignation of hall provost Kowshik Saha, warden Layla Hasin and superintend Rokeya Begum on allegation of misbehaving with students.
In a written statement, students alleged that the hall authorities sealed off journalism and media studies department master’s student Tasnimul Jannat Trisha’s room after she left the campus on September 5 on the occasion of eid.
Witnesses and Trisha’s friends claimed that she fell sick as the hall superintendent tortured her mentally after she returned campus on Monday.
Students also alleged that the hall authorities failed to run the hall properly.
However, the hall authorities claimed that they sealed off the room no 423 as two students applied for the room while Trisha got into the room without permission.
