Minor boy abducted from Ctg rescued in Cox’s Bazaar

Members of Rapid Action Battalion on Saturday night rescued a six-year-old boy from Cox’s Bazaar after four days into his abduction from Chittagong city and detained an alleged abductor.
The victim is identified as Mainul Islam Mottakin, son of Yusuf Chowdhury of Askarabad area in the city. The detainee was identified as Safar Alam, 35, of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazaar.
RAB-7 assistant director Chandan Devnath said Mainul was abducted by a gang of abductors on September 21, 2016 near his residence. Later the abductors took the boy to Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazaar and demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom from his family over phone.
Mottakin’s family filed a General Diary with Double Mooring police station in the port city in this regard and paid Tk 20,000 to the abductors through a Bkash account to get the boy back.
Tracing the account and the cell phone numbers, RAB members with the help of local police conducted a drive at Islam Nagar of Chakaria upazila and detained Safar Alam. They rescued the victim on Saturday night from the area after grilling the detainee, said RAB official Chandan.
