Lucky Akhand celebrates Eid at home
Noted singer-composer Lucky Akhand, who has long been battling with lung cancer, celebrated his Eid with family members at home after he was discharged from hospital.
He was discharged from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University and Hospital on September 9, after doctors reported signs of improvement in his medical condition.
The 68-year-old, who has been suffering from grade-IV lung cancer, has composed many popular songs including Abar Elo Je Shondha, Ei Neel Monihar, Amay Deko Na, Ke Banshi Bajay Re, Agey Jodi Jantam, Jekhanei Simanto Tomar, and Tumi Ki Dekhechho.
He was a regular performer at TV shows and concerts.
Sonu Nigam to return as Indian Idol judge
Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam is making a comeback as one of the judges on singing reality show Indian Idol after a gap of 10 years.
Sonu, 43, who judged the Sony TV show for season one and two, is returning for its upcoming seventh instalment.
‘For the family…. Here’s maukekidastak … Congrats.. We are back.. With IndianIdol,’ he wrote on Twitter alongside a short video of himself announcing the comeback of the show.
Details on the other judges, hosts and the airing date of the show are yet to be revealed. The sixth season of Indian Idol premiered in 2012. It was judged by Anu Malik, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Salim Merchant. Veteran singer Asha Bhosle joined the judging panel after the audition rounds.
While the show was absent from the small screen for four years, its spin-off, Indian Idol Junior premiered in 2013, followed by a second season in 2015.
Sonu Nigam’s playback songs have been featured mainly in Hindi and Kannada. He has also sung in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Odia, Tulu, Nepali and various Indian languages. He has also released Indian pop albums and acted in a number of movies. He has been one of the highest paid Indian singers. His singing style is considered similar to the legendary Mohd. Rafi whom he also considers his motivation. He has become to instant limelight through the Kannada film Mungaru Male (2006), which set several records in Indian cinema.
