Abritti Academy celebrates 18th founding anniversary

Abritti Academy artistes recite the historical drama Shahjahan at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.

Recitation troupe Abritti Academy organised a two-day programme to celebrate its 18th founding anniversary at the Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The programme, starting Friday, featured poetry recitation, a procession and a discussion session.
On the concluding day on Saturday, artistes of the organisation presented a poetry production titled Ekdin Khujechhinu Jare.
The production – 49th by the organisation – was a compilation of poems by the poet Jibanananda Das. Some of his well-known poems found their way into the production including the famous Banalata Sen and Ruposhi Bangla.
Dilshad Jahan compiled the poems.
The opening day’s programme included a reading of Dwijendralal Ray’s play Shahajahan, which deals with the life of the great Mughal emperor Shahajahan. A group of 16 artistes of Abritti Academy performed in the production, enacting 16 characters from the play and reciting their dialogues.
Mrinnoy Mizan directed the production.
Earlier, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Golam Kuddus inaugurated the show which was preceded by a procession of the members of the troupe walking through the adjacent streets of the academy.
