Teen Momtahina lifts gold in Nat’l Shooting

The 15-year old Mayeda Momtahina of Army Shooting Association stunned Narayanganj Rifle
Club’s Sharmin Akter to lift gold in the Women’s 10-metre air rifle event of the 28th National Shooting Championship on Saturday.
In absence of reigning champion, Sharmin Akter Ratna, who didn’t take part in the competition due to pregnancy, Islamabad SAFF Games Gold medallist, Sharmin was favourite in the event.
But the experienced shooter failed to put behind Momtahina, who ensured the gold medal after scoring 203.0 points in the final round, .80 clear of Sharmin.
Momtahina qualified for the final round after scoring 387 out of 400 points to be placed in the third position.
