A group of 275 children participated in an art competition on Friday morning at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The event was organised by the academy as part of its month-long initiative to observe the National Mourning Day – marking the day in 1975 when the founding president of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was murdered.
Friday’s competition was held in three age-based categories – Ka, Kha and Ga – with the young artists painting mostly portraits of Mujib while some painted landscapes.
A jury will select the best painters of the three groups who will be awarded at the concluding ceremony of the month-long programme.
Earlier, the children attended a story-telling session in which eminent artist Mustafa Monowar told stories of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
