Another young man, who was injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over felling trees of a graveyard in Barpara area of Comilla on Saturday night, died at Comilla Medical College Hospital early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Hanif,35, son of Abdus Salam, a resident of the area.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Abdur Rob said Hanif died at the hospital around 12:30am, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Earlier Russel, 26, son of late Sadek Miah of the area, was shot to death and five other people were injured in the Saturday’s clash.
Locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between the two groups over felling some trees at the graveyard for some repair works.
As a sequel to the dispute, about 35-40 people, led by Barpara union parishad member Saju, launched an attack on their rivals in front of Mainamati Medical College Hospital around 7:30am.
The attackers hacked and fired gunshot at their rivals, leaving several people injured.
Critically injured six, including Russel and Hanif, were rushed to Mainamati Medical College Hospital.
Later, the duo was shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated, where Russel succumbed to his injuries around 8:15pm on Saturday.
