SC stays bails of two Destiny bosses

Destiny 200 ltd, MLM company in BangladeshThe Appellate Division of Supreme Court on Sunday stayed until August 11, the bail orders granted by the High Court to detained Destiny Group bosses Rafiqul Amin and Mohammad Hossain in Tk 4,200 crore laundering cases.
A four member Appellate Division bench headed by the Chief Justice, Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Anti-Corruption Commission seeking stay on the HC order.
Commission’s lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan moved the petition for staying bails granted to the duo by the High Court on July 20.
The High Court granted them bail on the ground that they were suffering in jail for past three years and eight months.
Earlier, another High Court bench rejected their bail petitions and the Appellate Division also upheld the HC orders, said the commission’s petition.
In July 2012, the commission filed the two cases against 22 Destiny officials on charge of laundering Tk 4,200 crore from Destiny’s clients.
