Shilpakala artistes present a song at the workshop.

A daylong training workshop on different genres of music was held at the Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
The workshop was organised by the academy with the participation of about a hundred students of different schools from around the capital city.
Classes were conducted by 25 instructors, who had earlier taken part in different courses offered by the academy.
Among others, they were classes on patriotic songs, songs on the war of liberation, Tagore songs, Nazrul songs and songs of Dwijendralal Ray.
Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the workshop as chief guest with the academy’s director general, Liaquat Ali Lucky, in attendance. Sohrab Uddin, director of the music, dance and recitation department at the academy, delivered the welcome speech.
At the discussion session, the speakers talked about the importance of cultural practises as a healthy way to raise children.
