Ex-UP member hacked dead in Jhenaidah

A former union parishad member was beaten and hacked to death over land dispute at Harinakunda in Jhenaidah on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Alfazuddin, 45, of Dariapur in Kapashatia of Harinakunda.
Locals and police said there has been animosity between Alfaz and his siblings and other relatives over a piece of land in the village. Both the groups locked in an altercation on Monday afternoon that turned violent at one stage.
Alfaz and four others sustained injuries. Alfaz was taken to Jhenaidah General Hospital where the attending doctors pronounced him dead around 2:00pm, police said.
The assistant superintendent of Jhenaidah (Sadar circle) police, Gopianth Kanjilal, said the killing incident took place following family feuds. The body was sent to Jhenaidah General Hospital morgue for post mortem examinations, the ASP said.
