Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday filed a petition with High Court challenging Dhaka Special Judge’s Court’s order rejecting her petition for recalling investigation officer of Zia Charitable Trust graft case and reexamination of case documents.
Her counsel Naushad Jamir filed the petition.
A High Court bench of Justice Md Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury is likely to hear the petition Tuesday.
Sunday’s scheduled hearing of statement of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust Fund embezzlement case was shifted to April 25 by a Special Judges’ Court in the capital amid war of words among the lawyers of the two sides over the legality of the case investigation officer and his recall for further cross examination.
The special court rejected the petitions saying that the High Court allowed the ACC to decide which officer would be retained or excluded.
The special judge said that the defender had no right to examine the investigation officer’s case diary.
On March 19, 2014, the special court indicted Khaleda and four others on the charge of illegally collecting Tk 3.15 crore for the Zia Charity Trust Fund and withdrawing money from it in an attempt to misappropriate.
