The police recovered a cylinder filled with liquid petroleum gas from near the chief justice’s village home at Tilakpur in Kamalganj of Moulvibazar on Monday suspecting it a bomb-like object.
They also seized a sketch of the residence of chief justice along with adjacent areas outlined in a paper from the spot, said Md Shahjalal, Moulvibazar superintendent of police.
Another laminated paper was also seized that contained a list of names and their phone numbers of a youth organisation named Al Falah, he said.
A photograph of a bearded man, Khaled Ahmad, whose name was inscribed behind the photograph, was also found.
All these things were kept in a purse, the SP said.
Locals found the red cylinder of Bashundhara LP Gas lying on the field 200 feet off the house of chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in the morning.
Being informed, Kamalganj police, Moulvibazar superintendent, Rapid Action Battalion, and Border Guard Bangladesh rushed to the spot.
A team of bomb disposal unit of Sylhet Detective Branch of police also came to the spot, scrutinised the object and found it as a gas cylinder.
‘We are looking into the matter,’ the SP said.
