One killed in Patuakhali ‘gunfight’

An alleged top terrorist was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion in Patuakhali town early Monday.
Members of RAB-8 at a press briefing said they arrested Mawla Mridha, 35, a listed terrorist accused in several cases, during a drive in Hetaliya Badhghat area on Sunday night along with a shooter gun, ammunition and 600 pieces of Yaba tablets.
Later, based on the information gleaned from him during the primary interrogation, the battalion men conducted another drive, taking Mrida with them, in the area to recover more arms, United News of Bangladesh reports.
Sensing the presence of the RAB personnel, Mridha’s accomplices opened fire on them, prompting the battalion men to retaliate that triggered the gunfight which left Mridha dead on the spot.
