Ahmed Sharif’s death anniv today

The 17th death anniversary of educationist and philosopher Ahmed Sharif will be observed today.
Sharif, an expert on medieval Bangla literature, who served in Bangla department of the University of Dhaka, wrote more than 70 books during his lifetime.
He earned much fame as a critic of Bangla literary pieces.
Born on February 13, 1921, he died at the age of 78 on February 24, 1999.
He won Ekushe Padak in 1991.
He used to speak strongly against fundamentalism, military rule, and the enemies of liberation to guide the nation.
To mark the day, Swadesh Chinta Shongho has arranged Ahmed Sharif memorial lecture and memorial award 2016 at the conference hall of Dhaka University’s business studies faculty at 4:00pm today.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad president Ayesha Khanom is scheduled to deliver her speech on him, said a press release.
