Visitors look at artworks on display at the Zainul festival held in Barisal.

A two-day festival dedicated to Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin was held in Barisal.
It was organised by Charukala Barisal marking the 101st birth anniversary of the legendary artist.
On the first day of the event on Wednesday, an exhibition of 60 paintings and 70 dolls was inaugurated by Moinul Abedin, son of Zainul Abedin, at the Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall.
Meanwhile, Charukala Barisal Shilpalaya, a new art gallery of Charukala Barisal, was inaugurated by artist Shamsul Alam Azad, principal of Narayanganj Charukala Institute.
Among others, sculptor Aminul Hasan, artist Dr Kazi Mozammel Hossain, cultural activists SM Iqbal, Shanti Das, and Shuvangkar Chakraborty were present in the programmes.
There was also a painting competition held for children as well as a discussion session on the life and work of Zainul Abedin.
