Minor’s death: Govt orphanage staff removed

A deputy-superintendent in-charge of Barisal Shishu Paribar, a government orphanage, at Amtala of Barisal city was removed on Thursday over the death of an orphan on February 6.
Hemayet Uddin, deputy-superintendent in-charge of Shishu Paribar (boys), was removed from his post, said Mosharraf Hossain, deputy director of social services directorate in Barisal.
Hemayet Uddin was ordered to join the district office while Sajjad Parvez, probation-officer of the directorate was asked join as acting in-charge at the orphanage, said.
Barisal deputy commissioner Gazi Md Saifuzzaman said that two probe committees were formed to investigate into the matter and will submit their report soon.
The orphanage authorities also decided to install close circuit cameras at both boys and girls orphanage premises for surveillances over all activities, he added.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station Sakhawat Hossain said a case of unnatural death was filed on February 7 over the matter.
Police recovered a hanging body of an orphan Mashiur Rahman Yusuf, 13, from his room at the orphanage on February 6.
Yusuf came to the orphanage in 2012.
In 2004, Yusuf was sheltered at government baby home in Agailjhara after being rescued from a roadside dustbin at Chandmari area of the city when he was only seven-month-old, said deputy director of social services department.
