The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate recovered nine gold bars from the rectum of a man at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early Wednesday.
The gold bars were kept concealed inside the carrier’s rectum, identified as Roman Talukdar, 35, who arrived at the airport by a flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines from Kuala Lumpur around 6:00pm on Tuesday, said Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate assistant director Mohammad Jakaria
He said officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate challenged Roman when he was about to leave the airport through the green channel.
After screening Roman through archway, the customs intelligence officials suspected that metal-likes object were kept hidden inside his rectum, Jakaria said.

Finally, Roman was taken back to the airport and around 1:30am he released nine gold bars from his rectum, said Jakaria.
‘It is a rare incident of gold recovery in such a way’, Jakaria added.
