Foreign loan drops to Tk 640cr in Q1

Disbursement of foreign assistance dropped to Tk 640 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal.
The amount was Tk 773 crore during the same period of the last fiscal.
Finance minister AMA Muhith disclosed this while submitting the first quarter review of the annual budget to the parliament on Sunday.
He said both the foreign loan and net assistance declined during July-September quarter compared to same period of the last fiscal.
He said the net assistance stood at Tk 963 crore during July-September this fiscal while it was Tk 1,629 crore during the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
The government has projected to receive a total of Tk 30,134 crore in net foreign assistance throughout the fiscal.
Muhith, however, said they are on the (right) track to meet the budget deficit, 1.7 per cent of GDP coming from foreign assistances while 3.3 per cent of GDP from the local sources.
He said the government’s revenue income stood at Tk 38, 278 crore in the first quarter, registering a 10 per cent growth over the income of the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
He said the income growth achieved in the revenue sources was 9.95 per cent while the non-revenue income grew by 27.04 per cent in the first quarter.
Muhith said the overall revenue income in the first quarter was not satisfactory.
He said his ministry is working to improve the revenue incomes.
