Cattle trader shot dead by BGB

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel shot dead a Bangladeshi national in Matila frontier under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah on Saturday night.
The victim was identified as cattle trader Rafiqul Islam, 35, of Matila village in the bordering area.
BGB 26 Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain said that a mobile team of border guards was patrolling the bordering area in the evening when a group of cattle traders were returning from India with illegal cattle.
As the border guards challenged them, the cattle traders attacked the border guards with sharp weapons and at one stage, the patrol team fired three bullets, Jahangir claimed, adding that cattle trader Rafiqul sustained bullet
injury.
Rafiqul was rushed to local physician who declared him dead. The border guards seized cattle, sharp weapons and
sticks.
Moheshpur police officer-in-charge Shahidul Islam Shahin said that no case was filed till Sunday afternoon.
