IS takes credit for homeopath’s killing in Jhenaidah

The SITE Intelligence Group, a Jewish owned militancy monitoring site, on Friday claimed that Islamic State took the responsibility of killing a homeopath doctor in Jhenaidah, reportedly after being converted to Christian faith.
The octogenarian homeopath physician, Samir Uddin, was found dead with stab marks on the middle and right of his chest at village Belekhan in the district headquarters on Thursday.
‘The Islamic State claimed the killing of a man identified as Samir al-Din, who had allegedly converted from Islam to Christianity…’ the SITE said in its website and twitter account.
‘We are investigating into the killing considering all information available to us. We have no concrete information about the attackers. But, we will not rule out the possibility of IS,’ said Jhenaidah police officer-in-charge, Hasan Hafizur Rahman.
The police investigators said the octogenarian was a bohemian and had followed different faiths.
‘Once, he was a pious Muslim and used to lead prayers. Then he became Christian in 2001 and later followed the idea of Lalon Shah and others, including Chistiya Tariqah…’ Hasan said.
The police officer said they are focussing their investigation on the man’s conversion to various faiths and marrying more than two women.
‘We are not yet clear about the motive of the killing. None so far has been arrested,’ said the police officer.
Victim’s son Monirul Islam has filed a murder case with district headquarters police station.
According to SITE, the so called organisation took responsibilities of nearly ten other deadly and serious attacks which took place since September 28, 2015, to date when assailants had shot dead an Italian aid worker, Cesare Tavella, on a Dhaka’s street.
