Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on the eve of New Year urged people to work together to restore democracy and voting right.
In a statement Khaleda said that the country gained democracy at the cost of blood but the anti-democratic forces now snatched it away and curbed voting right of people.
Under this situation, all democratic forces should have to unite and struggle to restore multi-party democracy, she said.
Against the backdrop of global unrest, the BNP chairperson said all would have to work together to turn the New Year as the year of democracy, peace and progress.
She hoped that there would be an end to all kinds of repressions and brutalities including killing, enforced disappearances, war and inhumanity in the new year.
