2 more die in polls violence

Two more people died on Thursday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Barguna after being injured in Wednesday’s violence over municipal polls.
With this, the death toll raised to three as the first victim, Nurul Amin, 50, was shot dead in a clash between the supporters of two councillor candidates belonging to ruling Awami League outside a polling centre at Satkania in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Mozammel Haque, DMCH police camp in-charge, said Abul Kashem, 55, a fish trader, of Kishoreganj sadar, died around 10:30am while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Kashem suffered critically injuries in a clash between two pro-Bangladesh Nationalist Party councillor candidates – Kajal and Wasim – in Dhulihor area of Hossainpur on Wednesday noon.
He was then taken to a local hospital from where he was shifted to DMCH in the early hours of Thursday.
Kashem was a supporter of councillor-elect Kajal.
In Barguna, another elderly man died around 11:00am while undergoing treatment at Barguna General Hospital.
The deceased Nurul Islam, 70, got hurt in a clash that took place at Gagan Memorial High School polling centre on Wednesday, reports New Age correspondent there.
