Man sentenced to life term for killing wife in Pirojpur

Pirojpur district and session court awarded a man life term imprisonment for killing his wife for dowry in 2010. The convict was identified as Md Rubel, 26, son of Abu Saleh of village Gilabad of Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur. Rubel’s mother Nasima Akter was awarded five-year imprisonment for her involvement in the killing. The prosecution story said Rubel, in association with his mother Nasima, beat his wife Shilpi Akter to death to for dowry. Shilpi’s mother filed a murder case with the Mathbaria police accusing Rubel and Nasima. After examining all the evidences, Pirojpur district judge Md Golam Kibria handed down the verdict.
