Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led alliance on Tuesday called a fresh 24-hour hartal across the country except Dhaka and Chittagong city, protesting against enforced disappearance, killing and repression on anti-government activists and leaders along its continued non-stop blockade.
The capital Dhaka and Chittagong cities would be out of the purview of the strike due to the upcoming city corporation polls, said BNP joint secretary general, Barkat Ullah Bulu, in a statement on behalf of the alliance, on Tuesday afternoon.
The hartal would begin on Thursday 6:00am and conclude on Friday 6:00am.
The alliance would also bring out mass procession at municipality, upazila, and district towns and at all wards of metropolitan cities on April 1.
BNP-led alliance declared the programme also protesting the disappearance of BNP joint secretary general Salah Uddin Ahmed. It also demanded his release.
BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, enforced the indefinite blockade from January 6 after having failed to come out of her Gulshan office on January 5 to join a planned rally of the her party-led alliance in the city to mark ‘Democracy Killing Day’.
